High Efficiency Lighting System
During and immediately after the 2006 BOMA Convention in Dallas, we received countless inquiries about our high efficiency lighting system demonstration. Accordingly, by popular demand, we have decided to shed some light on how we did it:
We asked many of our visitors to tell us if there was any noticeable difference in the quality or quantity of light coming from two fluorescent light fixtures hanging in our booth. Both fixtures had an electronic ballast and two cool white fluorescent four foot T8 light bulbs.

The fixture on the right had two Sylvania FO32/741/ECO light bulbs running on a standard electronic ballast. The fixture on the left had two Sylvania FO28/841/XP/SS/ECO light bulbs running on a Sylvania Quicktronic High Efficiency QHE2X32T8/UNVISN-SC ballast. Most booth visitors could not tell any difference in the quality or quantity of light emanating from the fixtures, yet the fixture on the left was over 26 percent more energy efficient than the fixture on the right.
Good Energy can help you make the most of your lighting replacement or lighting upgrade budget by specifying the most efficient lighting solutions for each and every lighting system in your building, while also helping you take maximum advantage of federal tax credits available for energy efficiency upgrades completed in 2006 and 2007.
